Husqvarna’s flagship motocrosser offers more rider comfort in 2020.

After receiving several updates in 2019, namely to the frame, subframe, upper triple clamp, and cylinder head, the Husqvarna FC 450 returns for 2020 with much different suspension settings than its not-so-distant relative, the KTM 450 SX-F. The updated settings are focused on increasing rider comfort, changes that lightweight and vet riders will benefit from most. The softer performance is a give and take; it took away some of the rigid feel of the chassis, but the WP Xact air fork and WP shock are busy, especially on more challenging and rougher tracks.

The FC 450’s power delivery matches the new suspension settings well. Response is soft right off the bottom and builds predictably as revs increase. This makes the bike easy to ride aggressively for the duration of a moto. Two built-in maps and traction control give Husqvarna’s flagship motocrosser excellent tunability as well. Weighing in at 235 pounds wet, the FC 450 is the second-lightest 450cc MXer in 2020. High-quality components in the form of Brembo brakes, a Magura hydraulic clutch, a ProTaper handlebar, and ODI lock-on grips complete what has become a very well-rounded motocross bike.
