Moto Guzzi released two new performance V7 III models at EICMA this year: the Racer 10th Anniversary and the limited-edition Stone S. Both models are powered by Moto Guzzi's traditional 744cc horizontal twin but feature a number of special styling treatments over their existing counterparts.

The Stone S calls on the tradition of Moto Guzzi’s performance models of the 1970s including the 1974 750 S and the 1971 V7 Sport with its S designation and follows the exclusive nature of those motorcycles by being limited to just 750 units. Each Stone S produced will have its serial number engraved on the handlebar riser clamp, the only 2020 V7 III model to do so.

Only 750 examples of the Stone S will be produced for 2020, an ode to its 744cc transverse twin engine that’s been powering Moto Guzzis for decades.

The Stone S sets itself apart from the base Stone model with a bevy of styling features that harken back to Moto Guzzi’s early two-cylinder performance days. The new satin chrome fuel tank is topped with a black leather strap and features red eagle logos on both sides. The traditional Moto Guzzi red theme carries through to the shock springs and contrast stitching on the special edition Alcantara saddle.

Also setting itself apart from the standard Stone is a full suite of LED lighting for the headlight, taillight, and turn signals that had been otherwise exclusive to the Stone Night Pack edition. The headlight and instrument cluster are lower for an even racier feel from the saddle while the rear fender is also shorter and sleeker. Brand-new bar-end mirrors eliminate excess clutter from the rider’s view and further add to the sporty look.

The Stone S’ engine gets some racy dress up features to set itself apart like natural anodized aluminum throttle body covers, milled cooling fins on the cylinder heads, and billet aluminum side panels with a dedicated logo. A black anodized locking fuel cap tops it all off and since the S is meant to be ridden hard, Moto Guzzi added Dunlop Arrowmax Streetsmart tires to the package.

Moto Guzzi makes no mention on price of the Stone S, but it will likely be somewhere north of the Stone’s $8,490 price point.
