2010 QLINK Hawk Review

Intro

Made in China, the tiny QLINK Hawk is a 49 cc, carbureted, get around college campus scooter. It's styled to match the space-age looks of many of the newer scooters. The steel frame sits on twelve inch tubeless tires, mounted on styled aluminum wheels and it achieves speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, seated one-up. It uses regular gas in its 1.2 gallon tank, so it's a fairly economical choice for the student. Keep in mind, two-up seating affects both performance and gas mileage.

It has lots of storage: under the seat for your helmet, a small dash storage compartment, fit for your cell or sunglasses (not both), a roomy lockable trunk and a rack to bungee your books to. The Instrumentation is digital, and includes a speedometer, with trip odometer, tach, fuel level gauge and a low fuel warning lamp. The ignition is electric but has an emergency kick start for those emergency dead battery occurrences.

With 5.1 inches ground clearance, its 70 inches long and 27.8 inches wide. Sitting at a low 45.8 inches tall, it’s a good height for the smallest of drivers. Both driver and passenger have floorboard footing, with the driver sitting at 31 inches high on the two up vinyl seat. The body parts are all plastic and the front steering has an upper fairing to keep the breeze off your hands. Weighing just 190 pounds, it's easy to park most anywhere. Not a bad choice for the urban shopper or student.
