2010 Buell Ulysses Review

In 2010, American manufacturer Buell Ulysses released two motorcycle models designed to meet their consumers' on- and off-roading biking needs. The more popular of the two models is undoubtedly the Buell Ulysses XB12X, which comes in a sleek, sporty model, colored in all black.

Once on the road, the 2010 Buell Ulysses XB12X not only has a stylish look, but also the power to match any bike currently on the market. It has an eye-catching, four stroke, air-cooled V-Twin engine, which comes with a 10.01 compression ratio, and push rod valve configuration as well. The 2010 has a five-speed manual transmission, allowing the rider to adjust to any driving conditions presented to them.

But despite the power the engine provides, the Buell Ulysses is also perfectly sized for riders of all ages and heights. The bike stands just 54.4 inches in height, with a length of 85.8 inches, and a dry weight of just 425 lbs. A 6.8 inch ground clearance allows for easy access on and off the bike for beginner or early-aged riders, while the 31.8 inch seat height provides an optimal view of all the rider's surroundings.

In addition, the 2010 Buell Ulysses XB12X's suspension and steering make for a comfortable drive, regardless of whether the bike is on a paved freeway, or in rocky and uneven off-road conditions. The bike comes equipped with a front-adjustable fork pre-load front-end suspension, while the rear has a twin-sided swing arm aluminum suspension as well, allowing the rider an even drive, no matter where the bike takes them. Hydraulic disk brakes line the front and back end, allowing for quick but smooth stops, regardless of conditions.

Furthermore, the bike also has a pair of tubeless, aluminum wheels that are built to provide a balanced ride. The wheels are both 17 inches in diameter, with the back wheel slightly wider at 5.5 inches, compared to the front, which stands at just 3.5 inches. The Buell Ulysses XB12X comes equipped with a Pirelli Scorpion Sync 120/70 ZR17 front tire, in addition to a Pirelli Scorpion Sync 180/55 ZR17 back tire.

Yet despite all of its unique specifications, what separates the 2010 Buell Ulysses XB12X from its competitors are all the extra features that come with this specific bike. The XB12X has both driver and passenger seating, and the driver has the added bonus of heated hand-grips as well. Most importantly, the bike comes with standard lockable storage, and underneath seating storage too. For off-roaders looking to take the bike far from the main highways, the storage comes in handy for loading extra supplies, and necessities.

And finally, if the 2010 Buell Ulysses XB12X doesn't sound like the bike for you, be sure and check out the XB12X's sister model, the XB12XT. Most of the specs are the same between the two bikes, including the same wheel size, tires, and break system, however, the difference is in the size. The XB12XT is slightly larger than the XB12X, with a length of 91. 3 inches, and a dry weight of 465 lbs., compared to the XB12X’s 425 lbs.
