2009 QLINK Matador Review

Intro

QLINK, a Texas company, introduced its Matador line of motor scooters to the United States in 2009. The Matador comes in two models, the 50 and the 150. Both scooters come in blue, gunmetal gray, and red, with silver trim, and both have essentially the same modern, sporty look. Both have one-piece seats made from leather, a feature that is unique for scooters in this price range. The seat is large enough for the rider and one passenger. The Matador 50 also is unique in that it does not have a fuel gauge that is standard on other scooters; instead, it has a fuel warning light. The digital instrumentation panel also includes a speedometer and odometer.

Both can be considered entry-level scooters, but they would also appeal to experienced riders who just want to tool around town. With higher horsepower, Matador 150 riders should be able to do some highway riding, but freeway riding probably should be avoided as this scooter may not be fast enough. The Matador 150 also weighs 209 pounds compared to the 50’s 165 pounds. Though no official mileage estimates are available, the Matador 50 should get 90 mpg to 100 mph and the Matador 150 about 70 mpg to 80 mpg when compared to similar models from other manufacturers. Both scooters have lockable under-seat storage to hold helmets when not in use.
