The 2005 Triumph Speedmaster uses the same four-stroke, air-cooled, parallel twin engine for its power, with the same compression ratio (9.2 to 1), number of intake valves (eight, with four on each of the engine’s two cylinders), and two-carburetor fueling method. However, the engine is larger this time around. Gone were the days that it displaced at 790 cubic centimeters (cc); with the 2005 edition, it displaces at 865 cc. Also, horsepower (hp) and torque were increased to 54 hp at 6,500 RPM and 50.2 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 RPM. The engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission, with an electric starter for convenient ignition. Peak fuel capacity on the bike is set at 4.4 gallons (16 liters).
