Bilko Aiming To Kick-Start Aussie Gold Medal Tally At X Games

The Olympics of action sports will enter its 14th chapter this week as X Games gets underway in Los Angeles.

Flying the flag for Australia, Blake `Bilko' Williams will be out to maintain his winning momentum from the Dew Tour and deliver another frontrunning finish.

Williams' 2008 season has seen him return to the FMX scene with resounding success, with a win at the opening round of the Dew Tour shifting the spotlight to the wealth of talent downunder.

A bronze medallist in past X Games events, Bilko will enter as a finals favourite and is a chance to take Australia's first gold medal on the world stage in 2008.

The Victorian has a full schedule for the event, and is entered in three classes; Moto X Best Trick, Moto X Freestyle and Moto X Speed and Style.

Williams' versatility, expression and down-to-earth nature make him a favourite with the American crowds, and he is confident of putting on another good show in LA, with a number of new tricks up his sleeve.

"As far as the FMX season goes the X Games is one everyone wants to win, I'd be stoked to finish with another medal in 2008 and am feeling really good about my chances," said Williams.

"The competition is ultra tough and X Games brings out the best in riders, it keeps getting bigger each year and there's a lot up for grabs here."

"My leadup could not have been better - I had a good demo session at Cleveland on the Dew Tour following on from a win at Baltimore."

"A gold at X Games is something I've been aiming towards for a long time. This is the Olympics of action sports and I am pumped to fly the flag for Australia!"

X Games 14 will be held in Los Angeles, with FMX categories to be contested at the Staples Center and Home Depot Center.
