Screamin’ Eagle Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Teammates Hines and Krawiec will shoot it out for Number 1 at Pomona.

Three-time Pro Stock Motorcycle World Champion Andrew Hines, who entered Las Vegas with a 25-point advantage over his Screamin’ Eagle Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson teammate Eddie Krawiec, raced to the win with a 6.965 at 191.02, defeating reigning world champ Matt Smith on the NitroFish Buell. Hines claimed his sixth victory of the season and expanded his lead in his bid for a fourth championship to 92 points.

“I don’t want to play defense,” Hines said of his preparation for the Auto Club NHRA Finals. “I’m going to go on the offense. I don’t want to give up any bonus points during qualifying. I want to keep it over 80 points so we can roll into Sunday with the championship basically mathematically locked up.”

MavTV-sponsored Adam Arana, currently 13th in standings, will end his professional racing career after only two seasons in the pro ranks. Arana, who competes alongside his father Hector and brother Hector Jr. in Pro Stock, has signed on with the U.S. Coast Guard, effective January 2015.

In spite of his quicker reaction time off the line, reigning Pro Stock champion Matt Smith (far lane) lost in the Las Vegas final round to Andrew Hines, who is looking to win his fourth title next week at the Finals.
