AltRider Outfits the 2013 BMW R1200GS

In the aftermarket, standing still is the same thing as falling behind. That’s why AltRider didn’t waste any time coming out with a line of accessories for the new liquid-cooled BMW R1200GS, including crash bars, a skid plate, a sidestand foot, a radiator guard, and a luggage rack.

Rawhyde, BMW's official west-coast off-road training school, has been using AltRider accessories on its fleet bikes for the past three years. The pounding these bikes take helped refine the fit, specs, and performance of AltRider's BMW products, like the premium crash bars, made of 1.25-inch stainless-steel tubing with integrated lower flanges to attach AltRider's skid plate.

The skid plate itself, which doesn’t mount directly to the engine, has been redesigned for more ground clearance, and is made of anodized aluminum with no bolts on the bottom to snag trail debris. The drain plug and oil filter are accessible without removing the plate.

AltRider's luggage rack system includes the pillion rack or the rear rack, sold separately or together as a conjoined luggage system. Also coming soon, a radiator guard and sidestand foot, as well as a rear-brake reservoir guard, a master cylinder guard, and upper crash bars.
