2006 Husqvarna TE Review

Classified as an Enduro-inspired motorcycle, the 2006 Husqvarna TE was a higher-end version of such bikes that Italy-based manufacturer Husqvarna released for the 2006 model year. The 2006 TE is available in four models: the TE 250, TE 450, TE 510 and TE 610. Husqvarna priced them at $6,399, $7,199, $7,399 and $7,199, respectively.

Each model of the 2006 Husqvarna TE is named after the displacement of its engine, which is a four-stroke single-cylinder unit. The engine displacement is 249.5 cubic centimeters (cc) on the TE 250, 449 cc on the TE 450, 501 cc on the TE 510 and 576.3 cc on the TE 610. Depending on the model, the engine--which is paired with a six-speed manual transmission – is liquid- or air-cooled for prevention of overheating and consequent malfunction. Only the TE 610 comes with just an electric starter; the other models have the choice between that and a kick starter. The TE 610 has the biggest gas tank, at a peak capacity of 3.2 gallons (12 liters); the others have 2.4-gallon (9.2-liter) gas tanks.

Available only as a two-tone, blue-and-yellow bike, the 2006 Husqvarna TE uses an aluminum-and-steel frame to retain sturdiness yet lightness. However, the dry weight of the bike varies depending on model: 232.6 lbs. (105.5 kilograms) with the TE 250, 237.7 lbs. (107.8 kilograms) with the TE 450, 238.7 lbs. (108.3 kilograms) with the TE 510 and 308.6 (140 kilograms) with the TE 610. Digital instrumentation on the ‘06 Husqvarna TE include a tachometer, clock, trip odometer, speedometer, service reminder indicator, and temperature and fuel level warning lights. Also standard on the 2006 TE are halogen headlights, rearview mirrors and skid plate.

True to its racing inspiration, the 2006 Husqvarna TE--in addition to the six-speed manual gearbox--rides on front 21-inch and rear 18-inch aluminum wheels, which are fitted with Michelin Enduro Comp III or Metzeler MCE Karoo tires. Its braking prowess is attributed to the Brembo® hydraulic disc brakes on each wheel. Even with rough terrain, the Marzocchi inverted fork and Sachs twin-sided swing arm that consist of the suspension are enough to absorb the bumps.
