Yamaha YZF-R9 MC Commute

Balanced real-world performance meets everyday rideability.

The Yamaha YZF-R9 takes everything we love about the MT-09’s punchy CP3 engine and wraps it in a more aggressive supersport package, delivering a riding experience that’s equal parts rowdy and refined. On the commute, it’s surprisingly livable thanks to a neutral riding triangle and compliant suspension that doesn’t beat you up over rough pavement. But crack the throttle and this YZF wakes up with that signature triple-cylinder snarl, pulling with authority through the midrange and revving out with genuine excitement. Chassis feedback is sporty, steering is light without feeling twitchy, and the updated electronics suite gives you confidence to push harder without compromising rideability in traffic. It’s not a hardcore trackbike—and that’s the point. Yamaha built a real-world sportbike that works Monday through Friday and still rips when you head toward the backroads after work.
