Helmet Law Up For Change In Missouri

A bill to amend Missouri’s helmet law passes third reading by the House.

Current law in Missouri requires that all motorcycle riders wear a helmet or face a $25 penalty for each violation of the law. A House Bill (1655) that was introduced at the beginning of the year to amend that law was taken up at a recent House assembly for a third reading and passed by a vote of 93 yes to 56 no. The Bill, which modifies the existing law to allow riders over the age of 21 to have the freedom to choose whether or not to wear a helmet, must pass one more round of voting at the House level before moving on to the State Senate for final approval.
