Ducati Monster Art

If you are one of the lucky ducks who popped for a brand-new Ducati Monster 1100 prior to June 30th, you were privy to a pretty cool perk: a free Monster Art body kit with graphics celebrating significant models from the past. If you missed out on the initial "Second Skin" promotion, don't fear: Monster Art bodywork is still available through your local dealer starting at $599 per set.

Ten different schemes are offered, including bold solids like Ducati Yellow, Lilac or Scrambler Orange, and a red/white/black combination reflecting the current Ducati Corse colors. Our favorite choices recall iconic racing machines, such as the silver metal flake honoring Paul Smart's 1972 Imola 200 victory and a red/white/green patterned after the 900 Supersport on which Mike Hailwood won at the Isle of Man in '78. The Mach 1 and Sport 100 kits recycle historic Ducati logos from the '60s, and two iconic machines from the '70s and early '80s-the Darmah and Pantah-get their due, too.

Each kit includes a tank cover, front fender, "micro-bikini" fairing and solo seat cowl. Installation on any current-generation Monster (including 696 and 796 models) is said to take less than 10 minutes.

Sportier Sportsters
Harley-Davidson-the originator of the factory-custom concept-now offers a 1970s-style Spectrum Metal Flake paint option to complement its Forty Eight, Iron 883 and Nightster bobbers. Six explosive colors-black, gold, violet, navy, red or root beer-are available through dealers for $399.95 (paint only). Paint can be applied to a new tank (purchased separately) or to an existing tank (add $99.95 to strip/prime it). Emblems and decals sold separately.
