2018 Suzuki Boulevard C90 B.O.S.S.

Black on black.

2018 Suzuki Boulevard C90 B.O.S.S.CRS

Priced in between the zippy Boulevard M90 and the touring-focused Boulevard C90T, the Boulevard C90 B.O.S.S. hits the “street attitude” target dead center. Its formula for doing so includes blacked-out finishes that cover virtually the entire machine, except for the headlight bezel, turn-signal housings, cam covers, floorboards, foot controls and a few other bits. Power comes from same liquid-cooled 1,462cc V-twin as found in the other Suzuki “90” (90ci) models. While the five-speed gearbox is a gear short of some competitors’ six-speed boxes, the C90 B.O.S.S. punches back with clean, quiet, and nearly maintenance-free shaft drive.

Suzuki does not seem to be focused on slamming its cruisers as low to the ground as possible. This is a good thing, because the Boulevard C90 B.O.S.S. seat height of 28.3 inches is simultaneously stylish, low enough for smaller riders, and yet not so low that it confines taller riders. Passengers will really appreciate a generously padded seat of their own, perched well above the rider’s saddle for better visibility.

Likes: The full-black treatment saves hours and money on customization.

Dislikes: One rainy day ride could yield the cruiser equivalent of Joe Dirt.

Verdict: Proven Boulevard C90 engineering wrapped in sinister black.
