It's an open secret that BMW will spin off multiple versions of the upcoming G310 motorcycle, to debut later this summer as the G310R roadster. We're fairly sure there will be a sportier RS variant—think frame-mount failing and a more aggressive riding position, maybe even hard luggage—and almost certain there will be a G310GS. We wouldn't be surprised to see a retro version as well, but that's just the afternoon espresso talking.

About the GS variant: Website rushlane.com posted a rendering of the smallest GS that picks up styling elements from the G310R and the bigger F800GS, including the now-familiar asymmetric headlights, GS beak, engine guards, and steel-tube frame. At first glance, the rendering looks fairly real.

Alas, evidence of quick Photoshop work is revealed by the chain being on the wrong side of the rear wheel—despite the countershaft sprocket appearing on the correct side of the G310 engine—as well as a forward exhaust pipe, which would be quite the feat for an engine with a rear-facing exhaust port. Probably this is just an F800GS superimposed with the G310R’s chassis and front wheel, but that’s okay. It’s good to dream.
