With a theme of "Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'," Honda rolled out 15 new bikes at its 2005 dealer meeting in Nasville. Headlining ths street line-up were a new CBR600RR on the sportbike side and a new member of the VTX1800 V-twin cruiser family.
The latest CBR600RR claims an 11-pound weight reduction and gets a new inverted 41mm fork, radial-mount front brakes, a revised engine, new bodywork, and an $8799 price ($500 more than the 2005 CBR600F4i). Details of the changes are itemized in Honda's release below.
Honda's VTX cruiser family welcomed a new member, the VTX1800F, a more aggressively styled version of the 1800C, with minimized bodywork, and a variety of styling changes. Honda calls it a "sport custom performance cruiser." Like the other VTX1800 models the 1800F can be ordered in one of three "spec" styles, which are detailed in the release below. Prices for the VTX1800F start at $13,099 and run up to $15,099, depending on the build spec and color.
A 250cc version of the distinctive Ruckus scooter, named the Big Ruckus, was the fourth new street machine. It features not only more power but a fold-up adjustable passenger seat that acts as a backrest and provides a large cargo platform. It is priced at $5299, and details are also below.
The success of BMW with police-bike sales must have prompted Honda to take a new look at that market, because it rolled out the ST1300P, a police variation of the V-4 sport-touring machine. It features accommodations for the equipment needed for law enforcement use.
In addition to its new street bikes, Honda also introduced two motocross bikes, a new off-road competition bike, one scooter, six ATVs, and two personal watercraft.
Honda's releases on the 2005 CBR600RR, VTX1800F, and Big Ruckus follow.
