2015 Triumph Street Triple Rx | FIRST LOOK

If you’re suffering from OSD (outdated sportbike disorder), Triumph has the cure. The prescription includes ingredients like special wheels, special-edition paint, and a dose of pure adrenalin thanks to a punchy three-cylinder engine that’s good for whatever ails you.

The Street Triple Rx is a special edition of the Street Triple R that borrows styling licks from the Daytona- and TT-winning 675R. Along with a new Aluminum Silver paint scheme and revised graphics, the Rx receives a seat transplant from the Daytona that results in a razor-sharp rear profile. The wheels are accented in Diablo Red, and a new seat cowl, belly pan and flyscreen round out the Rx’s facelift.

The Rx engine is a variant of the Daytona 675’s, retuned to deliver a claimed 104 horsepower with 50 pound-feet of torque, and teamed with a close-ratio six-speed gearbox with quickshifter. A tapered flat handlebar, sculpted seat, and slightly rear-set alloy footpegs give the Rx a sporty yet comfortable seating position. A 41mm KYB inverted fork is adjustable for rebound and compression damping and preload.

Twin floating 310mm front brakes are assisted by standard ABS that can be switched off. Other standard equipment includes an engine immobilizer and a Triumph D-lock that stows under the seat. Comprehensive LCD instrumentation includes a lap timer, programmable gearshift lights, and a large, clear tach and digital speedo. The clocks can also display tire pressure when the optional Triumph Tire Pressure Monitoring System is fitted.

Look for the new Street Triple Rx in dealer showrooms by February 2015, priced at an MSRP of $11,199.
