Tech Spec Gripster Tank Grips

Many companies peddle adhesive tank grips, but only one sells a product that's removable and reusable. That made selecting Tech Spec's Gripsters an easy choice, since we change bikes frequently and always have to return them in stock trim, sans accessories.

Tech Spec has custom-cut kits for every bike imaginable in two different styles. Snake Skin is .125-inch thick and has a low-profile diamond pattern, while High Fusion is a thinner, .035-inch sheet with a simple rough texture. Both styles feature Tech Spec's special releasable adhesive, which allows them to be repositioned or removed. We opted for the Snake Skin because it offers the most grip. And, well, it looks cool.

Installation is simple: Just clean your bike's tank with rubbing alcohol, then peel-n-stick. The Gripsters match the lines of our Kawasaki ZX-6R's gas tank beautifully, and the beveled edges give them a clean look.

On the road, the added control is inspiring. The pad has some give that allows you to dig in with your knees, locking your lower body to the bike for better control while letting your elbows remain bent so as not to upset the chassis while braking and cornering. Unlike other more aggressive pads, the Gripster's surface is relatively smooth, easy to transition across without snagging and doesn't tear up your leathers.

After months on the road and several track days, the Gripsters have proven their worth. They don't show any signs of wear and the edges are still firmly stuck down.
