2012 Zero MX Review

Intro

Bringing revolutionary electric motorcycle technology to the track, the 2012 Zero MX is a spectacular little gem. The Zero MX has been fine tuned by its engineering team, and with suspension made for the track and an industry-leading power-to-weight ratio, this bike give the rider uninhibited responsiveness. The suspension is fully adjustable, giving you the edge whether you’re motoring around your backyard with buddies or competing at the track.

The 2012 Zero MX has 33 percent more overall power than ever before, and can hit a top speed of 54 MPH. You’ll be flying off the line with more torque and a broader powerband. And fear not, with a Z-Force lithium ion power pack and a performance motor, there’s a higher power output for longer periods of time. One drawback is a short riding-to-charging time ratio, of about 30 minutes to 3 hours. However, with two power settings, you can almost double your ride time by using the lower one, especially if you’re not planning on doing anything with the throttle wide open.

The only other real drawback is the riding position. The design of the body and engine has created a unique overall position, which may make some riders a bit uncomfortable, but shouldn’t be a problem over time. The seat comes a bit rigid, but it’s nothing that won’t soften with a few rides. For being an electric dirt bike, the 2012 Zero MX can hold it’s own against standard gas-powered bikes, and with a little getting-used-to it stands to be a tough competitor.
