2010 Yamaha Tmax Review

The powerful, rugged, and compact 2010 Yamaha TMAX is über stylish and boasts superior performance and perfect balance. This maxi-scooter from Yamaha was originally introduced in 2001 in Europe and made its way to the U.S. market in 2009. The Yamaha TMAX got a facelift and was revamped in 2010. Yamaha decided to focus more on the scooter’s handling and performance and gave the TMAX an engine capacity increase from 499cc to 500cc, boosting power and lowering rev torque. Since the engine is mounted to the front, the weight distribution is pretty much like a motorcycle allowing you a better feel of the front wheel. Built with an electronic fuel-injection system, it starts easily in all weather conditions. The engine uses a third slave piston driven by a central conrod to offset vibrations in a parallel twin engine. This super sport scooter offers an 11.0:1 compression ratio, upswept muffler canister, a controlled-fill die-cast aluminum frame, 43mm front forks, aluminum die cast wheels with radial H-rated tires, and fully featured multifunction instrumentation with a speedometer and tachometer. The horizontally positioned 500cc parallel twin is perfect for two-up touring at highway speeds. The TMAX features dual front disc brakes with four-piston calipers, and its rear brake has a single-piston caliper.

The TMAX enjoys a fuel economy up to an estimated 47 mpg with a fuel tank that can hold four gallons of gas. The TMAX remains well lubricated via a semi-dry sump system with an oil cooler that promises longer life. The muffler boasts exhaust catalyst technology that cuts down air pollution significantly.
