2007 Tomberlin XS Review

The 2007 Tomberlin XS is an off-road motorcycle that Augusta, Georgia-based company Tomberlin released for the 2007 model year. Like most of Tomberlin’s bikes, scooters, and all-terrain vehicles, the 2007 Tomberlin XS was designed for riding or racing on unpaved surfaces that include mud, snow, and sand. Beyond that, though, its design and technical specifications suggest a simple motorbike targeted at budget-oriented customers.

Two models exist for the 2007 Tomberlin XS: the Tomberlin XS 90 and the Tomberlin XS 110. The models are named after their respective engine displacements: 90 cubic centimeters (cc) for the XS 90 and 107 cc (rounded up to 110 cc) for the XS. Although each bike uses a four-stroke two-valve single-cylinder engine, the one on the XS 90 produces 5.7 horsepower, while the one on the XS 110 produces 7.1 horsepower. The compression ratio is 9 to 1 for the XS 90 engine and 9.1 to 1 for the XS 110 engine. All 2007 Tomberlin XS engines share the same one-inch stroke, although the bore is measured at 1.85 inches for the XS 90 and 2.06 inches for the XS 110.

The engine of the 2007 Tomberlin XS is mated with a modest three-speed manual transmission, and peak fuel capacity barely tops a gallon. However, an electric kick-starter and Mikuni carburetor ensure suitable engine ignition, particularly for times of cold weather.

Like virtually all motorbikes, the 2007 Tomberlin XS uses a steel frame for sturdy handling. The plastic slapped on it – including side covers and front and rear fenders – are beautified with a tongues-of-fire finish. A one-piece vinyl seat – placed 24 inches high for the XS 90 and 28 inches high for the XS 110 – is big enough for accommodating the driver. Braking consists of a hydraulic disc in front and drum at the back. Each 2007 Tomberlin XS rides on small ten-inch steel wheels fitted with tubed tires.

Each 2007 Tomberlin XS 90 measures around 54 inches in length, around 29 inches in width, and around 32 inches in height, with a wheelbase of 39 inches and dry weight of around 133 lbs. The XS 110 is bigger and heavier, with a length of around 56 inches, width of around 30 inches, height of around 37 inches, wheelbase of around 39 inches and dry weight of around 181 lbs. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price of the 2007 Tomberlin XS is $799 for the XS 90 and $959 for the XS 110.
