2010 Schwinn Hope Review

Intro

The 2010 Schwinn Hope is a 50cc entry-level scooter. With a paint combination of Pearl Pink and Pearl White, it seems this scooter is geared towards the female college student looking to go with the classic scooter look. Its sporty aluminum wheels and retro-euro-look includes the modern touches of halogen headlights and sleek body styling to update the theme.

The seat is comfortable, with an adaptable seat-to-handlebar position. The floorboard footing is small, but it does come with a foot rest for the passenger. The carbureted, single overhead cam 50cc engine has good pick-up in city driving, and the belt-driven continuously-variable (CVT) trans shifts smoothly. It comes with an electric start, along with a kick-start option if the battery level is too low. Stopping is easy with the hydraulic front disc and drum type rear brake.

The fuel economy on the 2010 Schwinn Hope is about 100 miles per gallon combined, which is quite impressive. The bike only runs on premium fuel, which is slightly more pricey, but the difference is not substantial considering the small size of the 1.1 gallon tank. The instrument cluster comes with a speedometer and a fuel gauge, unlike most of the competition. With a curb weight of 162 pounds, the 2010 Hope is lighter than its other Schwinn scooter sister models. At 43 inches tall and 68.4 inches overall, this semi-American-made scooter is a perfect choice for everyday running around town or campus.
