On Two Wheels: 2017 Yamaha FZ-10 First Ride Review

Zack Courts rides the Tail of the Dragon on the new R1-powered naked bike and we find out just how good it is.

Back in 2010, Yamaha came out with an updated FZ1. Everyone, including us, was dying for a naked YZF-R1, especially since Yamaha had dropped the all-new, crossplane R1 in 2009. Alas, it didn’t happen in 2010 and it’s pretty much been on deck ever since. We waited until we lost hope. And then the MT-10 came out in Europe, and we were crushed that it wouldn’t make it to US shores!

But it’s here, thank goodness, and it’s a little different than we were expecting. Hopefully the video above answers all of your questions about how the new FZ-10 feels to ride, what aspects of other Yamaha models are used, and whether or not it’s worth the asking price. Ride along with Zack on the Tail of the Dragon, and hang out with Ari and Zack in the garage while they discuss the competition that the FZ-10 is sure to face. All we can say is that we’re glad to see it in America. A crossplane-powered R1 with a tall handlebar: finally!
