World Ducati Week blew through town this past week on Italy's Adriatic coast at the legendary Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. This year marked the 10th anniversary of the event that occurs every other summer. More than 90,000 enthusiasts from all over the world made it out for some gasoline-fueled fun in the sun.
The seaside racing circuit plays host to the event and is the base of operations for the three-day-long event which kicked off Friday. In between the nonstop partying and fun times and the camaraderie that's at the heart of being a Ducati rider, highlights included a Race of Champions which saw racing celebrities from the past and present duke it out against one another in a "just for fun" six-lap race.
The 12-rider field included factory MotoGP racers Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo. Multi-time Superbike champ Troy Bayliss also got in on the fun, even posting competitive lap times, despite being out of serious world-level competition for nearly 10 years. Longtime test rider Michele Pirro took the win. In typical WDW form, a post-race stunt show ensued. Here are a couple of our favorite photos from the event.
Want in on the action? You’ll have to wait until the summer after next for the 11th WDW celebration.
