WINTER PARK/FRASER VALLEY HOSTS VETERANS RALLY AND FESTIVAL
- Vietnam Memorial Wall, POW/MIA Recognition Ride, Remembrance Ceremony Highlight August Weekend

Winter Park, Colo. - The Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall - the 400-foot-long, four-fifths scale replica of the permanent Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. - will visit the Winter Park/Fraser Valley this summer.

As part of the 15th Annual Salute to American Veterans Rally andFestival, the Salute to American Veterans Rally Committee will erect the American Veterans Traveling Tribute - better known as "the Wall" - at the Fraser Sports Complex, just north of the Town of Winter Park, Aug. 17-19. Interested individuals can get a preview of the Memorial online at www.avtt.org.

Volunteers will assist visitors in finding specific names on theMemorial with a computerized locating service. Visitors also will receive, free ofcharge, materials to "rub" the desired names on commemorative paper askeepsakes.

Issuing an honorary proclamation, Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, Jr.,has proclaimed Aug. 17-19 "American Veterans Rally Days" in the state tohonor and recognize all the activities of the three-day period.

POW/MIA Recognition Ride, Remembrance CeremonyIn additional to the Memorial, the Veterans Rally will include the 20thannual POW/MIA Recognition Ride(c). American veterans will ride on more than5,000 motorcycles from Granby to Winter Park as the finale to the Winter Park Veterans' parade, creating Colorado's largest procession of motorcycles.

Citizens can participate in the event by taking up positions along theride route between Granby and Winter Park on U.S. Highway 40.

Following the ride, in Winter Park's Hideaway Park, the POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony will pay tribute to members of the armed forcesfrom all wars. The one-hour event will spotlight American prisoners of war,those missing in action, and those killed in action. POW and dignitaryspeakers, presentations, and patriotic music will complete the ceremony.
