Suzuki to sponsor a Pro Street Bike Shootout at Etown's NHRA Sport Compact Fall Nationals

American Suzuki has announced sponsorship of the Pro Street Bike Shootout to be held during the NHRA Sport Compact Fall NationalsSept.30- Oct. 1 at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park near Englishtown, NJ. The bikes will compete in an 8-bike open competition format under AMA/Prostar rules.
"Suzuki is very excited to be involved in this fast-growing series,"said Suzuki's Morgan Broadhead. "Suzuki has always been a leader in bringing racing to the enthusiasts and this is a great opportunity to bring world-class motorcycle drag racing to Sport Compact racing market."
The Suzuki Pro Street Bike Shootout will feature the quickest and fastest drag racing street bikes in the world, capable of runs in the 7.30 second range at over 200 mph. Riders competing will include Barry Henson, Kent Stotz, Mike Slowe and Phil Stoll.
"We feel that the Suzuki Pro Street Bike Shootout will be a tremendous addition to this great event," said Javier Ortega, Sport Compact program Director for Raceway Park. "They are at the pinnacle of performance and technology in Motorcycle Drag Racing. Their high-tech EFI and turbo systems are very much in line with what our fans want to see."
Suzuki will post a $3,000 purse which pays $1,500 to win, $600 runner-up, $250 semis and $100 quarters. Three rounds of qualifying will be held on Saturday at 1:00, 3:00 and 6:00 with final eliminations going off on Sunday at 1:00.
The NHRA Sport Compact Fall Nationals is the eighth stop on the nine-race NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Racing Series. This will be the only time the Pro Street Bikes will compete in the series in 2006.
