Phillip Island SBK Race To Be Broadcast And Streamed On beIN Sport

World Superbike TV Listings

If you’ve been wondering where to see FIM World Superbike Championship on TV since SPEED dropped the series to show even more NASCAR content (“Tune in tonight for a five-hour ‘Top Ten Daytona Tailgate Parties’ special!”) you’re not alone. The rumors have been flying this past week, predicting the series will be aired on every network from Al Jazeera to your neighbor’s wi-fi, but now it seems there’s an actual fact to cling to.

The opening round of the World Superbike series is scheduled to be broadcast on beIN Sport (which is in fact co-owned and operated by Al Jazeera and Time Warner Cable). beIN Sport is available to subscribers to DirecTV, Dish Network, Comcast, and some other providers. Early word was that only if you received beIN Sport from your cable TV provider, could you also stream the race live on your computer. But that restriction has apparently been dropped, because now you can stream the race regardless of whether you get beIN Sport.

Now here's where it gets tricky. You can watch the race on TV, or stream it on,  but either way you have to watch it live––it won't be archived for later viewing. The first race is scheduled for 7:30 pm Eastern time tomorrow, February 23, with the second race flagging off about three hours later, so set your alarms.

SPEED isn’t abandoning MotoGP, and plans to show the 2013 season, presumably when it’s not interrupting scheduled programming to announce the arrival of the UPS truck at a NASCAR team’s shop.
