July 22-24 are the Dates for the 2011 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix

The Support Series Will be All Three Classes of AMA Pro Racing

MONTEREY, Calif. (September 9, 2010) - The MotoGP World Championship returns to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on July 22-24, 2011 with the rising stars of AMA Pro Racing Series for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. The 2011 race marks the seventh consecutive visit for MotoGP and AMA racing together at the historic Monterey circuit.

The 2010 event had the miraculous recovery of Valentino Rossi after his leg-breaking accident at Mugello. Jorge Lorenzo arrived in Monterey with a reduced 47 point lead over defending champion Dani Pedrosa, who had an excellent chance of claiming his third victory of the season as he led the first eleven laps of the race. Lorenzo was almost within striking distance of Pedrosa by lap 12 of 32, when the Honda rider suddenly lost the front of his motorcycle and crashed out of the lead. Lorenzo celebrated his victory by dressing up in a spacesuit and performing a mock moon-walk through the Corkscrew gravel, where he planted his Lorenzo Land flag.

On the AMA Pro Racing side, the National Guard Superbike race was won by a rider who loves everything about Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and he has the record here to prove it. Ben Bostrom culminated a very special weekend by winning from the pole position. He also won here last year in Daytona SportBike and also a World Superbike race here in 1999. Fellow Yamaha rider Josh Hayes is leading the National Guard Superbike Championship with one race left in the season.

"The best riders in the world and the U.S. will once again be together to treat our fans to incredible on-track action," said Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. "Having Americans Ben Spies on the factory Yamaha team and Nicky Hayden on the factory Ducati team - I can only hope for one of our own on the top step of the podium."

"Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca represents the true heart and soul of motorcycle road racing in the U.S." said Bob Starr, Communications Manager of Yamaha Motorsports Group. "And to have both the Yamaha MotoGP and AMA teams together at our home track is very special for all racing fans."

The 2011 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix will host three classes of AMA Pro racing: AMA SuperSport, AMA Daytona SportBike and AMA American Superbike in addition to the MotoGP World Championship. The date for the event is tentative, subject to the release of the full FIM calendar in September.

All general admission tickets, paddock passes, grandstand seats, parking and general camping for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix will go sale November 3, 2010 by phone at (800) 327-7322 or on-line at www.mazdaraceway.com.

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was established in 1957.
