Another widely known “secret” confirmed at Piaggio’s dealer meeting was the existence of this new Caponord 1200, which revives Aprilia’s adventure-touring nameplate and applies it to a dressed-up version of the Dorsoduro 1200 megamoto. The composite frame, 130-bhp V-twin and 17-inch wheels appear unchanged, while the bodywork is all-new and decidedly influenced by the RSV4 superbike, even sharing the same signature triple-headlight. Officials were short on specifics, except to say the new Capo would come with the most advanced electronics package in its class, including ride-by-wire throttle, traction control, ABS and new “Electronic Dynamic Damping” suspension control, making it a good match for the similarly sophisticated BMW R1200GS, Ducati Multistrada 1200 and Triumph Explorer.
