Continuing the development of its three-cylinder series and expanding the model options, MV Agusta has introduced the Rivale 800, a clear competitor to the Ducati Hypermotard. Featuring the firm’s newly punched-out triple, bumped from 675cc to 800cc, the Rivale employs a signature steel-tube trellis frame that gives slightly more relaxed geometry than the recently announced Brutale 800. The basic architecture of the fiery triple remains, including the counter-rotating crankshaft and ride-by-wire electronics with multiple engine maps. The displacement comes from an additional 8.4mm stroke to go with the existing 79mm bore. MV says this configuration results in 125 horsepower at the crankshaft, which motivates a 375-pound motorcycle.
