POLK CITY, Fla. (Oct. 6, 2008) - It's an air show. It's a classic car show and slalom race. It's a boat show and regatta. It's a stunning display of the latest extreme sports. It's an All-American themed, family-friendly celebration rolled into one. It's the 2nd Annual Roar n' Soar, a celebration of the world's finest classic land, sea and air racing machines ever built, presented by Central Florida's premier aviation-themed attraction, Fantasy of Flight.

The two-day, signature event, the brainchild of Fantasy of Flight creator and founder Kermit Weeks, takes place Saturday, Nov. 8 and Sunday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (gates open at 9 a.m.) at the attraction's spacious lakefront grounds and airfield in Polk City, Fla., midway between Orlando and Tampa. For a limited time, advance ticket purchasers receive a free children's admission with each paid adult's admission, a $12-19 savings. Event tickets also include entry to the world famous Fantasy of Flight attraction, another $15-29 savings.

"When we created Roar n' Soar we not only wanted to showcase the world's most amazing racing machines on the land, sea and air, but also give our guests and their families the chance to see, touch, and experience these classic vehicles, get to know their pilots and drivers, and enjoy some family-friendly entertainment for a great value," said Weeks, a former world champion in aerobatics. "Roar n' Soar promises to accomplish all that and more."

Throughout the weekend, the best of the best in aviation perform precision aerial maneuvers, flying at speeds of up to 300 miles per hour, in Weeks' "World's Greatest Aircraft Collection" including the Grumman Duck, P 51-C and Fokker DA-1. These daring pilots will be on hand between maneuvers to greet guests and inspire the dreams of future pilots of all ages. "Pond Swooping" - the very latest in Extreme Sports - is certain to be one of the most talked- about events of the weekend. In this new-fangled version of sky diving, the jumper starts out in a normal dive, but increases speed to an accelerated horizontal landing, dragging his toes in an expanse of water.

Challenging their full-size counterparts, giant-scale model aircraft will strut their stuff in their own demonstration of formation flying, precision aerobatics and aerial combat maneuvers that make it virtually impossible to believe that these aircraft are flown via remote control. Adding to the weekend's hold-your-breath excitement, a team of powered paragliders create a colorful canopy in the sky as they demonstrate the world's smallest, most personal aircraft in which they wear their motors on their very backs!

Enhancing the patriotic theme of the event - which takes place the weekend following the Presidential election - a team of daring, extreme paratroopers will leap from a vintage plane to unfurl Old Glory in mid-air, celebrating everything that's great about the "U.S. of A."

Meanwhile, classic car lovers may just think they've died and gone to heaven as they stroll through the Car Coral, marveling at classic and one-of-a-kind luxury automobiles including Jaguar, Austin-Healy, Ferrari, BMW and Porsche. These stunning cars aren't just for show - many of them feature the horsepower and torque to kick up some dust in the sanctioned Jaguar Slalom competition, in which drivers of all types of classic cars will test their mettle by maneuvering through a cone-lined course on the hangar tarmac. Prime viewing spots along the course ensure that spectators won't miss a second of the nail-biting, engine-revving action.

Vintage race boats are just as plentiful at Roar n' Soar, where as many as 50 of the most elegant, powerful race boats ever built perform exhibition fly-bys along the mile-and-a-half-course along scenic Lake Agnes. Boats and their drivers will be available between runs to meet with guests and take photos.

In between exciting air shows, car and boat races and other activities, guests can sample the fares of local restaurants at the Taste of Polk County, taking place throughout the weekend.

For children, the fun never stops at Roar 'n Soar. Kids can try their hand at flying their own hot-air balloon and hang gliding simulators in Fantasy of Flight's "Fun with Flight " center with prizes awarded for precision landings. Polk Museum of Art and Fantasy of Flight have joined together to host a community art project with activities for children ages 5-15, complete with contests and prizes.

For a limited time, advance ticket purchasers will receive one FREE child's admission (ages 6-15) with each paid adult admission - including reduced rate adult tickets for active and retired military. This offers an incredible savings of $12 to $19 per child's ticket. Event tickets also include admission to the Fantasy of Flight attraction (regularly $28.95 per adult and $14.95 per child), so an additional incentive for those who have never been to the attraction to come and visit at an incredible rate.

Adult tickets are just $23.00 per person for one-day and $38 per person for two-day. Child's tickets are $12.00 per child (ages 6-15) for one-day and $19 for two-day. Children 5 and younger are free. All pricing includes tax.

Active and Retired Military may purchase a weekend event pass for just $15.00 (tax included) per adult, which includes a free child's ticket with each adult ticket purchase. (Valid ID required at the gate).
