Laguna Seca 2000: Two Cylinders Over Tokyo

Main: Former AMA Superbike Champion Troy Corser (#3) never put a wheel wrong in collecting third- and first-place finishes for Aprilia at Laguna's World Superbike event. Down a bit on power to the front-running Ducatis, Yamahas and Hondas, Corser made up the difference with brains and patience, in race two, and a set of skills the other kids haven't yet got: Corser stole third place from Ben Bostrom in race one with an impossible pass. In his "development" year with Aprilia, the Aussie lies second, 18 points behind Honda's Colin Edwards, with four rounds remaining. Top: Yamaha's Noriyuki Haga (#41) won the first race, finished second in the second and would be having a helluva season if not for the ongoing ephedrine scandal. Middle: Evel Ben Bostrom's (#155) third and fourth on the NCR Ducati were considerably better than his replacement's finishes on the factory Duc. Bottom: And, in Saturday's AMA Superbike race, little Nicky Hayden (#69) and Honda's RC51 won their third race of the season.
