Craigslist Find: L. Ron Hubbard’s 1975 Yamaha Going For $600,000

Church of Scientology founder was a rider!

A nice classic regardless of its previous owner, but a few too many zeroes on that asking price for our budget.©Motorcyclist

File this one in the ridiculously-priced-bikes-for-sale-owned-by-a-famous-person department! We don’t normally rehash Craigslist ads but we couldn’t let this one go unmentioned. Not only is it a clean-looking classic cruiser from the mid 1970s, but the ad claims that its previous owner was none other than the late L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the Church of Scientology who, according to his Wiki page, was also an author, a pioneering explorer, world traveler, and nuclear physicist. Well it seems they can ad motorcyclist to that list if the bike’s current seller can verify its previous ownership. We’re not so sure about that other bold claim in the ad: “This is the only one currently known to exist and the last one he owned.“ It may be the only one that Hubbard owned, but we’re pretty sure that XSs are still pretty common.
