The following motorcycle recall report is filed with the NHTSA:
Report Receipt Date: December 13, 2017
NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V805000
Component(s): Fuel System
Potential Number of Units Affected: 20
Manufacturer: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)

THE RECALL: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017 Honda VT1300CX Fury motorcycles and 2010 and 2016 Honda VT1300CX Fury motorcycles that received a replacement fuel tank. The fuel tank may be missing welds around the mounting bracket.

WHAT COULD HAPPEN: If the welds are missing, the mounting bracket can separate from the tank, allowing fuel to leak and increasing the risk of a fire in the presence of an ignition source.

THE FIX: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel tank welds and, as necessary, replace the fuel tank, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in December 2017. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138.
