Expect the Tech Air airbag system for the street to be announced by early November.

Delivering the latest in performance technology is more than sales hype at Alpinestars HQ. Developing race suits for MotoGP’s top riders like Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez and Movistar Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo requires a level of protection beyond the basic extra layer. Tech Air, for example, is Astars airbag technology announced in 2010 after more than a decade of R&D that is credited for allowing their racers to walk away from some spectacular high-speed crashes.

Our recent visit to Alpinestars USA to view their 2015 products was highlighted by the announcement that the Tech Air system will be available in a street version by early November ’14. Specifics and pricing are not yet available but Alpinestars Technical Services Rep Jonathan Elfalan assures us that the street Tech Air will certainly be more affordable than the race version.

The Tech Air airbag system now benefits from its most advanced algorithm for crash prediction with 180,000 test miles completed in all forms of riding.

Riding apparel and footwear for women has been a main focus at Alpinestars and their 2015 Technical Motorcycle Collection includes a range of innovative new products that are not merely small-sized mens designs.
