BIG SKY XC Offers World-Class Family Racing Weekend

July 25, 2011 - Back by popular demand, the 3rd annual KLIM Big Sky XC is scheduled for August 27-28. Located at the renowned Big Sky Ski and Summer Resort in Southwestern Montana, the race is defined by its challenging alpine courses, dramatic views, and proximity to amenities.

Five unique courses have been designed to ensure racers of all levels will enjoy their experience in Big Sky. The slope-side endurocross section, included in the Blue Square (intermediate) and Black Diamond (expert/pro) courses will once again be a highlight. Spectators can enjoy the racing action from overhead via the Swift Current chair lift. As the final round of the AMA West Hare Scramble Championship Series, 21 of 27 class point battles are still undecided. New for '11: an improved 50cc course, a separate 65cc / 85cc JR course, and an alternate delay route around the Black Diamond's rock garden section.

While Big Sky Resort is most famous for its epic ski and snowboard terrain, summer visitors are never disappointed. Amenities such as an Arnold Palmer designed golf course, restaurants and shops, quality hotels and condos, world class fly fishing, zip line tours, downhill/ cross country mountain biking, day trips to Yellowstone National Park and more make this a location for everyone. "This is a family experience," explains race promoter Jamey Kabisch, "our hope is that race-centric families who invest time and effort into traveling to our event will walk away with more than just a trophy. We want the trip to be a highlight of their summer." Big Sky's mild alpine climate with no humidity is reason enough to make the trip from many regions of the country. Motorcycle themed movies will be playing in the evenings at the resort's amphitheater, live music is scheduled at various local establishments, and a youth/novice awards banquet is set for Saturday night.
