**Big Sky, MT (December 19, 2011) **-Lone Peak Racing, LLC is proud to announce the 2012 Big Sky XC race date has been set for August 25-26th.

New sponsor KENDA TIRES and KLIM look to award $10,000 in the pro class

We're proud to announce the newly named KENDA Big Sky XC presented by KLIM. Both KENDA and KLIM have stepped up to allow the Big Sky XC to continue to mature into one of the county's elite off road events. The amazing mountain terrain on the ski slopes of Big Sky Resort, the high level of competition, and the resort's family friendly amenities combine for an unforgettable national level racing experience. It's a resume builder for amateur racers looking to prove to current and potential sponsors they have what it takes to be a top level off road competitor.

Also new for the KENDA Big Sky XC presented by KLIM is the addition of a hybrid racer cap for the amateur classes. 200 first come/ first serve amateur spots will become available on March 1st. Beyond those 200 spots, racers who meet a certain criteria will be allowed to compete at Big Sky. Those exempt racers include the top ten in either 2011 or 2012 mid-year (by July 15th) points standings from the country's top racing series.

"A huge driving force behind our desire to host the event year after year has been the different stories we've heard from the families that have traveled to Big Sky from across the country," explained Joe Miller, LPR's Marketing Manager. "One of my favorites was from a Midwestern family that visited Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone National Park for the first time as a leg of their racing vacation to Big Sky,"

The pro purse has been increased to $10,000 for 2012.

"As the event grows, it's important to us and our sponsors that the sport's top racers are given the opportunity to compete for a sizeable purse," adds Miller. "The Big Sky XC is a family amateur event first, but we want to show our dedication to the sport's pro athletes. Pro riders have been some of our biggest supporters because they love the challenging terrain on the Black Diamond loop. With the increased purse, they have even more reason to make the trip to Big Sky."

Criteria for both exempt amateurs and the pro class, along with lots of other important details, can be found at www.bigskyxc.com
