2009 QLINK Hawk Review

In 2009, QLINK released the Hawk 50 motor scooter. While this Chinese scooter is a simple, basic model without a lot of fancy accessories, it is still a reliable, convenient, and comfortable mode of transportation for most people. The Hawk 50 has space for two on the one-piece vinyl seat. The rear passenger seat has a detachable back rest. Although the body of the Hawk is plastic, the frame is sturdy steel, and it has a center kick stand to keep it upright when parked. The Hawk 50 has an electric- and a kick- start, further ensuring the reliability of the scooter.

When driving short distances, the Hawk 50 may be a solution to the high cost of fuel. The Hawk 50 uses only ounces of gas for every mile traveled, with some users reporting a fuel economy of 80 to 90 miles per gallon. This motorized scooter would be a great second or third vehicle for running quick errands around town. If garage space is a consideration, the Hawk 50's small size enables owners to store it easily in a corner of the garage or in a small shed. This motor scooter is just over five feet long and only about two feet wide.

However, the Hawk 50 does have a few negatives. Because the torque is only 3.70 ft-lbs, the Hawk 50 accelerates very slowly. This may be a serious problem for users who live in hilly or mountainous regions. Another downside of the Hawk 50 is the small fuel tank. Although the motor scooter is quite fuel efficient, owners of this bike will find themselves having to fill up more often than they might prefer. However, it does use regular gasoline.
