BEL AIR ESTATES (KTLA) -- A motorcycle collector was tied up and threatened with a stun gun as robbers stole two vintage bikes from his home. Police say two men in a "Rent Me for $19" van burst into the home on the 900 block of Linda Flora Drive around 4 a.m. Saturday to find the homeowner and his wife inside. The suspects then threatened the couple with a Taser and tied the man up with heavy-duty tape as the wife fled the home. They then stole two rare motorcycles, one from 1914 and one from 1952, worth more than $1.5 million. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived. So this is what we have done so far to make it a much better bike. A Gearing change was neccessary because low gear was too tall and the bike has little power at slow speed. With stock gearing 4th gear would pull past 80 mph and not much happened when you went into 5th. 1 tooth down on the front sprocket made the bike pull better and 1st gear was much better. But the engine still couldn't get enough air to pull much past mid range so you needed to know how to use the gears. Anything under 60 mph you didn't use 5th gear if you wanted any get up and go. Thats an overdrive or highway gear. Down to 3rd for 40mph curves if you want to pull hard out of them and hold it to 60mph before the 4th gear change. 4th will still pull 80 being down a tooth up front. Sheryl was keeping up with me pretty well with her bike being set up this way when I was on my KLR-650 Kaw. A while back I added a DG Pipe to my Kaw then had to rejet it. Sheryl could no longer stay with me after my change. So I replaced the stock air system with the Cobra PowerFlo which uses a K&N Filter, which I oiled. then hooked up the Cobra Fuel Mod. Sheryl rode it first and really liked the difference. Honda must have been after good milage on the bike because Sheryl got close to 60 mpg But now I doubt she will be getting that because the bike pulls pretty well where it use to sign off. The next step would be an exaust change but we like the looks of the stock pipes and haven't seen anything we like better. The way the bike runs now is good enough for her needs and I myself have fun taking it for a spin now too.

Waking up Honda's 750 RS |

You probably picked up a few, didn’t you! CliffsNotes are a series of student study guides that present and explain literary and other works, summarized in pamphlet form. Endorsers say the guides help readers understand complex works, while detractors say they let students avoid even reading them. Whichever position you may take, it’s clear that CliffsNotes summaries have increased learning, to some depth, for millions of students. Can we learn something about safer riding from this cultural icon? Refocusing my eyes, I see that is not Ted Danson, looks far too young, but a fellow motorcyclist, my age even, cool. As I read, the more I could relate - here was another enthusiast who yearned for a time machine - and then created one. While Mr. Stanley went back further than I did by a couple of decades, we both took the trip without leaving the farm, and we did it chemical free! Mine, mine was taking a old 1975 CB750 and drag racing it against a 1975 RD350, with period correct mods, June of 2009, good times. Nice article, thank you, I find myself looking forward to the series "Me & My Bike" each month, this one struck especially close to home.

Me & My Bike |
