I did a search for the k 1200 gt a few weeks ago and the latest one i could find is like 2006, although if i did a search of any sport bike say a zx-10 i may get a half dozen, for the most part they defenitely sell more sport bikes that sport touring bikes, but there is a population of riders who do not ride sport bikes, we prefer the finer things in life, in my case i ride a 03' K1200 LT-custom, i prefer to handle well, have and ride my bike year round, with heated seats, grips, plug ins for cold weather-never needed them yet, cruise control, six disc cd changer that yes you can hear at 140 mph with a helmet on, electric windsheild and many other goodies you do not have space for. They in my humble opine make a superior product in most categories, i know this, i just think that most of your readers will never get an oppurtunity to know how great BMW's products are due to the fact that you do not represent their bikes even a small percentage as much you do the Japanese bikes get. I could throw out names and be immature, but that is not my nature, i just hoped for a fair and balanced comparisons of Europe's finest against everything else. What are you guys thinking? that bike albeit is nice, but how can KAWASAKI make a Sport Touring bike and not give it Cruise control, heated grips and heated seats, basically that bike is a sport bike with hard luggage, again A BMW should have been there or maybe Motorcyclist should have come up with a new category, Sport tourer, And the BMW should have won that, The K1200 GT is a much better sport tourer, so it is maybe a 1/2 second slower in the quarter mile if that, but it is a Sport touring bike with all the available ammenities the Kawi doesn't even offer, it is more expensive, but when you live anywhere north of LA, you need heated grips/ heated seats/ and plug ins for heated clothing, this should not be MOTY best touring bike for southern California! Hard to tell, huh? :) I met many of the racers at MMP last weekend and I did what I usually do: I shot a whole lotta photos while there. I can't call myself a pro photographer, but I figger I'm in OJT for the time that my heart-related disability income ends and my retirement begins in about 4 years. So I'm training for a new profession (I worked with computers for most of my career and now it's time to do something fun: Rat rods, photography and "playin the blues" on bass, piano and organ. Anyway, if members here want to see the results of my consummation of mass quantities of digital film (I can afford that) and some Photo-chopping, I put 'em on my little server that lives i my studio...at the end of a DSL line to my home. I divided the photos into 2 categories: Shots in the paddock, sidehack racing and 2-wheeled bike racing. I think I could develop an addiction for that sort of Racing. The url is here: Miller Motorsports Park If I've made some goofs, please let me know and I'll correct 'em asap. There's a section for paddock shots, one for the sidehacks and one for 2-wheeled bike racing. I hope you enjoy, A favor to ask though. I watermark my photos and if you want, use em wherever you want, but there are a coupla things I ask. First, please don't hot link to the images. And of you repost 'em, please include the watermark. It lists the dirty inages...not many but there are a couple...like gettin totally. I had a blasr. Hope you enjoy these. A 90% gas 10% ethanol mix. sure enough when i went to fill up the next day i saw a sticker on the pump that stated the fuel contained 10% ethanol. i did some research and found a fuel station by my house that still sold 100% gasoline. i filled her up and the bike ran great. very noticeable deference. after some reading online i found out that ethanol has about 37% less energy than gas. so theoretically this could affect horsepower. i have has a hard time finding any real info on this subject. although i did read that drivers where getting up to 7% less fuel millage on E10. this is also something that i noticed with my vehicles. anyone have any real date on this?

I recently brought a Dunlop Qualifier for the rear. The stock Dunlop D207 is still on the front (it’s the OEM tire). Even though it’s by the same company, somehow now, the handling of the bike seems off. When I lean for a turn, its feels like the back end is going to slip out from under me. I am looking to get the Dunlop Qualifier for the front, but I noticed that there are TWO sizes I could get: 1. 120/60 - 17 2. 120/70 - 17 (the front tire that I have on my bike now - Dunlop D207 , specs are 120/65 - 17) My question is: in terms of handling and stability, what’s the difference between these two sizes - 120/60 vs. 120/70? Thanks in advance for any info.

The swinging arm was off of her before, could this have effected it? If my bike is out of lign, is it expensive to fix/can i fix it myself? Recently I got caught in the rain at the end of a long day. I rode from California to Spearfish, South Dakota, and arrived as the shadows were growing long. I could see thunderstorms ahead, and sweated out my gas situation until I finally had a chance to fill up. At the gas station, I heard that not only was there heavy rain, but hail as well. Newly confident with a full tank, I headed into the storms. First the bugs were washed from the bike, then I got soaked, then that clammy feeling of wet, cold leather. Soon I was concentrating on making time on the windy roads of Spearfish Canyon, with some mud thrown in where the road was being worked on. I don't like riding when it is dark, and the rain made it worse. However, I have to admit that I felt really good about the ride almost the second I finished that part of the trip. While I would never choose to ride in these conditions, it was the kind of thing that can't help but make you a better rider. From now on, when you find yourself weather challenged, go for it with gusto. Wet conditions force you to be smooth.

The festival, one of the premier film festivals in the US, runs from September 17 to September 21, and is held at the Tower Plaza Cinema Complex in Temecula, California. The film will have two showings, Thursday, September 18, time TBD, and Saturday, September 20 at 5 PM. The trailer is on www.youtube.com, keywords "JN Roberts", or just go directly to "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYu-mw9Y3qc" to watch the trailer. To draw attention to the film, the Racing For Life Offroad Team is hosting a Dual Sport Ride that Saturday starting at the Film Festival, looping up to Idyllwild, California for a barbecue lunch and live music, then returning to the Festival for the 5 PM showing of FULL CIRCLE. YOu are all welcome to join the Dual Sport Ride, open to the first 75 riders (2 wheel and 4 wheel okay). We just planned a great 100+ mile loop, 80% in the dirt, through the San Jacinto Mountains above Palm Springs. Event Registration starts at 6:30 AM at the Tower Plaza. We have all CDF clearances. At the end of thei ride, we will have a special trailer for the riders to clean up and change clothes. After the screening, there will be an after-screening party at Scarcellas, next door to the cineplex. GO to www.racingforlife.org to download an entry form and details on the Dual Srort Ride. Proceeds from the ride will benefit The Rider Down Foundation (www.riderdown.org). Proceeds from the sale of the FULL CIRCLE DVD benefit the El Oasis Children's Orphanage through the Malcolm Smith Motorsports Foundaiton. More than 15,000 attend the festival each year, now in its 14th year. It is a "people's choice" award festival, so the more people we can get to attend the Sept 20th Saturday screening and vote for the film, the better chance we have of the film receiving recognition and honors. Very few of the films screened actually are made by film makers from the area. Pinned TV teamed with us last year to produce the film, coordinating production with 20+ camera crews down the Baja Peninsula. So tell your friends and let's support our sport and these fine charities. Time to take over the festival!!!
