Woodcliff Lake, NJ – October 14, 2010…Built to further demonstrate the capabilities of BMW's radical, new S 1000 RR Superbike, BMW Performance Center's Dragbike will make its U.S. debut by scorching the strip and leading a ride to this weekend’s Biketoberfest activities in Daytona Beach, FL, October 14-17. Developed, tested and tuned by dragracing experts at Brock's Performance, BMW's fully customized, race-tuned dragbike is based on "Christine," an Acid Green Metallic screamer that has astounded the quarter-mile community with a best run of 8.47 seconds at 163 mph.
BMW's most radical exhibition bike was built by the crew at Touring Sport BMW in Greenville, SC just a few miles from the BMW Performance Center, which offers on- and off-road motorcycle training in and around its $12 million facility and the surrounding western Carolina and Tennessee mountains.
Fully street legal, this special S 1000 RR is outfitted with all of the latest BMW HP carbon parts and race accessories, including quick-shift assist, carbon adjustable rear set, folding race levers, a Brock's Performance CT Meg™ Full-Titanium Carbon-Tip exhaust system, Brock's-mapped Dynojet Power Commander, Alumi-Pro™ 9" over swingarm, Brock's custom Dragshock™ and ultra-trick BST carbon-fiber wheels.
Hosted by Magic City Cycle, of Orlando, the ride festivities will kick off Friday evening, October 15, at Orlando's Speed World Dragway. At 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 16, the bike will lead hundreds of other sportbikes on the annual ride from Magic City Cycle to Daytona's Sport Biketoberfest celebration.
The BMW Performance Center Dragbike will be displayed on stage alongside Nate Kern's (North American BMW S 1000 RR Ambassador and Championship winning RR roadracer) roadrace-prepped S 1000 RR in Daytona Beach's Arena until the party ends in the wee hours. After its Daytona debut, BMW Performance Center's new dragbike will continue to make headlines at other southeast-area drag-themed events – test & tune sessions, grudge races, open-houses and bike nights – on the street and strip.
