Ed Milich reading from the bar at Ace Café, San Francisco
Over the course of ten days in early December, 2009, Motorcycle authors Mark Gardiner and Ed Milich appeared at seven motorcycle destinations across the western US, from San Francisco to Seattle. The Riding Men Book Tour delivered Gardiner and Milich to such luminous motorcycle destinations as Portland’s Vicious Cycle (home of the Honda CB160 racing craze), the Cretins Clubhouse in Seattle (ground zero for Pacific Northwest vintage motorcycle enthusiasts), and San Francisco’s Ace Café (a popular destination for SF café racers). The tour was both a critical and financial success and both authors entertained dozens of motorcycle enthusiasts at each stop on the 10 day tour: reading, selling and signing books as they made their way across the West Coast. Highlights of the tour included a dark and smoky reading to a full room at the Cretins Clubhouse in Seattle, a first class event at Moto Corsa in Portland replete with Ducati themed private label wine tasting, and Ed’s last reading performed while standing on the bar counter of the Ace Café San Francisco.
