  • Valentino Rossi arrives at the Indianapolis Grand Prix in tremendous form having finished on the podium 18 times in the last 20 races including eleven victories. The only races during this period where he has not finished on the podium are the wet races in France and Britain; in both races he crashed and re-started. The victory last year at Indianapolis by Rossi was his 69th in the premier-class which gave him the record of most GP wins in the premier-class with one more than Giacomo Agostini who had held the record for 32 years.

  • Marco Simoncelli qualified on pole forthe cancelled 250cc race at Indianapolislast year. Simoncelli has finished on thepodium eighteen times in the last twentyoneraces he has finished in the points,starting at the Portuguese Grand Prix lastyear.





  • Having won at the Czech Grand Prix,Marco Simoncelli will be aiming to bethe first rider this year to take back-tobackwins in the 250cc class.
