Cypress CA. June 22, 2011 -- The SSB Yamaha Custom Showdown Presented by Silver Star Casting Co. and Yamalube made a huge splash at Atlantic Beach Bike Fest during Memorial Day weekend, showcasing an incredible display of professionally built and amateur assembled custom Yamaha sportbikes to over 200,000 bike fest enthusiasts.
This is the first time Yamaha has brought its popular custom Sportbike show to Atlantic Beach, and the response was overwhelming. Thousands of Bike Fest attendees crowded the tent on Friday May 27th and Saturday May 28th to get a close up look at these amazing motorcycles.
Robert Fisher of Roaring Toyz brought his heavily modified 2008 YZF-R1 from Sarasota Florida to compete in the Pro Class of the SSB Yamaha Custom Showdown and was stunned by the reception: "Atlantic Beach has always been a hot event, but the crowds are loving these custom Yamahas" Fisher exclaimed. "Yamaha offers a strong platform for a custom build, but in the past you didn't see many custom R1 or R6 models. Now riders are getting a taste of how awesome these bikes can look when they're modified, the whole scene is blowing up!"
Visitors to the SSB Yamaha Custom Showdown got more than just a view of these beautiful custom creations - they got to cast their vote for their favorite motorcycles, with each vote helping to determine the winners of the Pro Builder and Amateur Builder classes.
Photographers from title sponsor Super Streetbike were on hand to catch all the action. Participants and attendees alike can look forward to seeing a selection of bikes from this remarkable show in an upcoming issue of the magazine and www.superstreetbike.com.
Next stop on the SSB Yamaha Custom Showdown presented by Silver Star and Yamalube tour is the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, CA July 22-24th, and the series concludes at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix Indianapolis, IN August 26-28th.
