The number of requests for information that we are currently receiving daily is overwhelming. Of course
that’s good news, as the interest in the new Norton Motorcycles is well beyond our most enthusiastic
expectations. We want to respond as quickly and accurately as possible, so we have written this open
letter to our Norton fans.
We established Norton Motorcycles USA in November, which is a direct subsidiary of Norton Motorcycles
(UK) Ltd. Building new Commando 961 Cafe Racer and Sport models for the UK has been on-going, and
we have just begun shipments to all other European Countries. The Approval process (meeting Federal
emission and safety standards) for U.S. motorcycles is a lengthy endeavor, taking months to complete.
However, the process was started late last fall and we anticipate approval early this spring. We can then
begin shipments to the USA.
The three questions that we asked most are:
• Where is my local dealer?
We are in the process of meeting and interviewing new dealers nationwide, and we will
begin assigning dealers within days. We are being very careful, and proceeding
conservatively to ensure that we partner with only the very best dealers who understand
the high level of service that we and Norton owners expect and deserve. Our plan is to
have about 50 dedicated dealers, located in or near all major cities across the country.

• When can I get a bike?
As mentioned above, we will first complete the U.S. approval process, then begin
production and shipping your motorcycles. A conservative forecast is for Commando 961
models to start arriving in late spring, then the bikes will be delivered first to clients who
have a deposit with their dealer.
• How much do they cost?
The following is current suggested list price for new Norton Commando 961 models:
• Sport - solo seat $16,995
•Sport - dual seat $17,995
•Cafe Racer - solo seat $17,995
•Cafe Racer – dual seat $18,995
