Allstate Uses Local Crash Statistics to Identify Intersections Where Motorcycle Collisions Occur Most Frequently
About 70 percent of the 822 crashes involving a motorcycle in Orlando occurred at or in proximity to an intersection between 2004 and August 2009. With the more than 300,000 bikers expected to unite during Daytona Bike Week, renowned chopper builder Dave Perewitz and Allstate are teaming up to promote motorcycle safety awareness by placing "LOOK" signs at dangerous intersections in the area, encouraging automobile drivers to look twice for motorcyclists before crossing.
Yellow diamond-shaped cautionary traffic signs, part of Allstate's "Once is Never Enough (ONE)" program, will be emblazed with the word L-O-O-K and a silhouette of a motorcycle, reminding everyone on the road that one extra second is all it takes to save a life.

The signs will remain throughout Bike Week, Feb. 26 to Mar. 7.
WHERE:
The intersection of Conroy Rd. and Millenia Blvd. just southwest of downtown will feature the "LOOK" signs and is among the most dangerous intersections for motorcyclists in Orlando. As the host city of Bike Week, signs will also be placed at the following dangerous intersections in Daytona Beach
Bellevue Ave. at Clyde Morris Blvd.
Williamson Blvd. at U.S. Hwy 92 BACKGROUND:
ONE was created in 2009 to educate motorists to look left, right, then left again for riders before crossing an intersection, the most dangerous spot on the road for bikers. In 2008, a survey commissioned by Allstate found 82 percent of motorcyclists are concerned about drivers of cars more than anyone else on the road.
