FT. LAUDERDALE, FL (June 18, 2008) - Bruce Rossmeyer's Fort Lauderdale Harley-Davidson paired with the Jim and Jan Moran Boys & Girls Club in Deerfield Beach to install a variety of original art pieces in the new Harley-Davidson "Dark Custom" gallery on June 17, 2008.
More than 30 children were in attendance to share their support and enthusiasm as 15 of their peers' artwork was put on display on the second floor of the dealership. The children experienced an afternoon of creativity and fun. Also in attendance were Jeff Cheek of Fort Lauderdale Harley-Davidson and Barbara Fedderman, Art Director for all Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, who created the concept for the design of the dark custom art.
The children's unique artwork kept in style with the Harley-Davidson "Dark Custom" motif by utilizing colorful images and designs. The artwork will be on display and showcased throughout the summer.
The aim of Dark Custom artwork is to take advantage of an existing Young Adult cultural movement and to show the under-35 audience that Harley-Davidson has something to offer them. The original look and feel of the artwork resonates with a younger audience and presents Harley-Davidson in a new light. The works of art communicate power and rebellion - while emphasizing how attainable a Harley-Davidson can be. The Dark Custom movement does not emphasize anti-establishment, but reflects individualism and shows a younger audience they can blaze their own path in life.
