Component(s): Powertrain
Potential Number of Units Affected: 476
Manufacturer: KYMCO USA

THE RECALL: KYMCO (KYMCO USA) is recalling certain model year 2016 K-Pipe motorcycles manufactured from March 1, 2016, to May 25, 2016. In the affected models, the gear shift pattern was assembled in a reverse sequence when compared to the standard setup. As such, these motorcycles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 123, "Motorcycle Controls and Displays."

WHAT COULD HAPPEN: If the motorcycle shifts opposite of other motorcycles, a rider may be confused and may select the wrong gear, adversely affecting control of the motorcycle and increasing the risk of a crash.

THE FIX: The remedy for this recall campaign is still under development. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact KYMCO customer service at 1-888-235-3417.
