IV2 JX-Sky Motorcycle Helmet Recalled for Dangerous Face Mask and Mohawk Accessories

Ivolution Sports is recalling more than 1,000 JX-Sky helmets to to a hazard from the plastic accessories.

IV2 JX-SKY helmets are being recalled due to a potential hazard with the accessory bolt face mask and mohawk. A full refund from the manufacturer is being offered to owner.©Motorcyclist

THE RECALL: Ivolution Sports, Inc. (Ivolution Sports) is recalling certain IV2 JX-SKY helmets, sizes S, M, L, XL manufactured from February 1, 2015, to July 15, 2016. These helmets may have two detachable plastic accessory pieces, a plastic mohawk and a face mask, that were attached with small screws. These accessory pieces may alter the angle of impact and neck position in a motorcycle crash. As such, these helmets fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 218, "Motorcycle Helmets."

WHAT COULD HAPPEN: If the accessories are attached with a rigid connection such as with screws, the rider has an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

THE FIX: Ivolution Sports will notify owners, and provide owners a full refund, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in August 2016. Owners may contact Ivolution Sports customer service at 951-888-0076. Ivolution Sports number for this recall is JXSKY-RECALL (201607).
