RSD "Hesher" Highlights New Jacket Collection

January 5th, 2011 - Los Alamitos, CA - The new "Main Set" jacket collection from Roland Sands Design combines tradition with functionality and style. Think classic lines, with subtle features to make it uniquely RSD. With forward rotated, pre-curved sleeves, adjustable waistband and shoulder gussets for mobility the Hesher is a rider's jacket, with reinforced double-layer elbows and heavy duck fabric bringing a good dose of protection.

With a water repellent finish, the choice of heavy cotton canvas makes sense, says Sands. "Everybody has a version of the black leather jacket, so we brought heavy duck canvas into the mix. It works as functional riding gear, or perfect as an everyday jacket," he adds.

Of course plenty of people will insist on leather, so RSD has those traditionalists covered, too. "The leather we use for our jackets is all A-grade, with natural distressing to ensure the perfect 'broken in' feel," explains Sands. Add to that armor-ready pockets, full adjustability and performance riding fit, the dirt track-styled "Mission" and the neoclassic "Rocker" have you covered. Comprised of four styles and three colors in all, the Main Set is ready to rock in the New Year.

THE RSD STORY
Roland Sands was just 5 years old when his parents first put him on a motorcycle, and there has been no stopping him ever since! His love of speed on two wheels took him to the professional racing ranks for 10 years. He set multiple track records around the world and was the 1998 American Motorcyclist Association 250GP champion. However, 32 broken bones later, Roland decided to trade in his racing leathers for paper, pencil and a computer designing products for noted motorcycle wheel manufacturer, Performance Machine.

He founded RSD in 2005 and continues to shake up the motorcycle industry to this very day. Roland and his bikes have been featured in more than 400 magazine articles worldwide, including 100+ cover stories. RSD projects have also appeared on television segments broadcast on MTV, SPEED Channel, ESPN2, Discovery Channel and the TLC networks.

RSD has worked on custom bike projects with celebrities and athletes (Mickey Rourke's latest motorcycle is in the RSD Design Center right now as well as customized Tony Hawk and Shaun White machines) and major projects with industry leaders, including Harley-Davidson, Aprilia, Bell Helmets, Ducati, Dunlop, Honda, Toyota, Vance & Hines, Victory and Yamaha just to name a few.
